At North Tarrant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we use modern digital imaging for accurate diagnosis of dental problems and creation of dental appliances.
For best treatment outcomes, we use the following dental imaging:
- 2D panoramic x-ray
- 3D cone beam computed tomography (Cone Beam CT) scan
- 3D intraoral digital scan
Panoramic X-rays
Panoramic x-rays are used for most patients and those with tooth related problems such as a toothache or impacted wisdom teeth. They provide much greater detail than traditional x-rays.
Cone Beam CT Scans
3D cone beam CT scans are used for implant planning and assisting in finding pathologic lesions. The equipment we use is the Planmeca Promax®.
Intraoral Digital Scans
These 3D scans are used for implant planning and making bite guards for TMJ pain.
The iTero intraoral digital scanner is a wand that is placed in the mouth. It is used to take dental impressions in place of the old bite trays filled with nasty tasting goop. Extremely accurate full-mouth impressions are available within minutes.
3D Imaging Pricing
Prices for digital 3D scans are higher than dental x-rays. Please check your insurance policy to make sure this type of scan is covered. We accept most major dental insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.
Prices are $240 for diagnosis of lesions and $400 for implant planning. Digital intraoral scanning prices for implant planning are $500. (Prices subject to change without notice.)
